National Museum of Mexican Art Arte Ambulante

The National Museum of Mexican Art offers Arte Ambulante, or traveling art, which brings Mexican art and culture into a classroom, organization, or community. Arte Ambulante workshops consist of a slide lecture followed by an art activity. Art projects are designed for all ages and usually last about one hour. Workshops may be tailored for larger audiences or lecture presentations. Popular workshops include Masks Amate paper painting, Aztec codex (ancient indigenous pictograph), retablos & ex-votos (altars, votives), Day of the Dead ofrendas and altars, Huichol yarn paintings, Aztec shields, Alebrijes, Tin milagros, and Sugar Skulls. Educators or coordinators may design a customized one-session or multi-session art workshop to meet their participants' needs. For reservations or for additional information call 312-433-3918.
