Kulu Mele African Dance & Drum Ensemble

Kulu Mele African Dance & Drum Ensemble preserves, presents and builds upon the dance and music of Africa and the African Diaspora. Kulu Mele serves the community and strengthens the preservation and perpetuation of culture, dance and music of the African Diaspora through various programs including school-based performances. Known for its high-spirited performances and artistic excellence, Kulu Mele performs West African-based original and traditional communal dances that celebrate life passages, such as birth and marriage, and everyday scenes such as children at play. While all dances are authentically costumed and choreographed, the company infuses traditional dance with contemporary flair.
