New Jersey Sea Grant Consortium

The consortium offers educational programs for groups that teach key marine and coastal scientific concepts using outdoor activities and fun, hands-on fieldwork. Learn about geographic orientation, marshes, food webs, and water quality while seining Sandy Hook Bay, collecting plankton, and hiking through the marshes. At the beach learn about waves, sand, seashells, and the importance of dunes. Special programs include the Lenape program, which looks at the environment from the perspective of Native Americans, and the Underwater Exploration program, where groups can build and test an underwater robot of their own design. Some programs include an indoor classroom lab component.
