Schiele Museum of Natural History

The natural wonders of North America are reflected in the Schiele Museum’s collections and exciting exhibits. The museum’s galleries feature native plant and animal specimens from North Carolina, gems and minerals, Native American artifacts, and a large collection of live animals, dioramas, and taxidermy. Group visits can be combined with unforgettable hands-on programs: students and scouts can identify fossils, explore pioneer and Native American life, go on an archaeological dig, see a planetarium show, and much more. Outdoor attractions include an 18th-century farm homestead, Catawba Indian Village, and a nature trail, that richly explore the state's natural history.
