Historic Rosedale Plantation

Experience Rosedale in the 1840’s with a rich tour of 19th-century medicine, education, culture, and plantation life. Rosedale was operated in the 1830s by Dr. Caldwell and two slave families. Groups visiting the plantation will get to meet and talk with costumed interpreters as they carry out their daily activities. The Hands-On History program tests groups’ investigative skills, as they examine artifacts and documents to learn more about the lives of the people on the plantation. On the Architecture tour, art and mathematics come to life as groups explore Rosedale’s architectural motifs, and get to create their own.
