African American Civil War Memorial & Museum

The education programs at the African American Civil War Memorial & Museum allow students to explore the causes and consequences of the Civil War, the formation of the United States Colored Troops and the path to equality and justice for Americans of African descent in the United States. Programs include Glorious March to Liberty: Civil War to Civil Rights, The Civil War Soldier, and Story Hour. The programs will take students through the causes and consequence of the Civil War and the recruitment of African American soldiers, introduce students to the Civil War and what life was like for the typical soldier through an interactive presentation and museum scavenger hunt, and engage young visitors by using traditional and contemporary stories of the Civil War and Civil Rights.
