Somerset County Park Commission Environmental Education Center

Located in Lord Stirling Park on the edge of the Great Swamp, Somerset County Park Commission Environmental Education Center features a variety of plants and animals on its 500 acres of swamps, meadows, forests, ponds, and more. Groups can hike over eight miles of trails and visit the Great Swamp Experience Exhibit, which is scheduled to open in January 2017. Groups can participate in outdoor, Naturalist-led, STEM programs focusing on ecology.  Hands-on activities involve making observations in nature and drawing scientific conclusions. Seasonal programs include pond studies and Maple Sugaring. Groups will also enjoy the new biomimicry programs, “Finding Answers in Nature: Stickiness or Architecture” program, which aims to teach groups how to use observations in nature to build a sustainable future.
