Westmoreland Museum of American Art

Learn about American art at this museum. Groups can view over 500 objects from 1750 to the present day, including a new collection of contemporary, post-1950 works. The permanent collection includes American decorative arts, portraiture, sculpture, landscape painting, as well as the 19th-century collection of fraktur, featuring watercolor and ink calligraphy. Exhibits have focused on the work of individual artists, and themes and storytelling in different genres of American art. Docent-led tours are available including a very popular tour tailored to teaching groups about the history of Southwestern Pennsylvania, through art and interactive activities. Self-guided tours are available for groups of less than 10.
