USS Constitution Museum

Only yards away from “Old Ironsides,” at the USS Constitution Museum students will learn about the ship's nickname, discover how it remained undefeated since being launched in 1797, hear the stories of the school children who contributed pennies to help save it and the sailors who ate a diet of hardtack and grog, and climbed its 200 foot masts. The Museum features self-guided exploration in award-winning exhibits, fun interdisciplinary programs, and a talented staff. Students will be introduced to the adventurous life of a sailor, role-play different jobs at sea, see simple machines in action, uncover the Constitution’s major battles in the War of 1812, complete a series of hands-on challenges like those the crew faced at sea, and investigate primary source documents.
