Provincetown Center for Coastal Studies

CCS provides educational activities and resources to encourage the responsible use and conservation of coastal and marine ecosystems. In celebration of “Whale Week,” the CCS has a series of free events, including “Meet Delilah,” during which young students get to step inside an inflated, life-sized North Atlantic whale. Other activities include a marine scavenger hunt, and a puppet and live-action theater performance that tells the story of “Ibis,” the first whale to be disentangled by CCS. At the end of “Whale Week,” your students can play “whale”-themed games, and participate arts and crafts activities. Don’t forget to ask about the CCS’s lectures for older students, which focuses on topics such as whales of Cape Cod and the history of whaling, to name a few. Groups must call in advance.
