Mariposa Museum & World Culture Center

The Mariposa Museum & World Culture Center is a hands-on museum of artifacts from around the world, located in the center of Peterborough in the historic Baptist Church building. The museum celebrates cultures with regional exhibitions, performances and programs. Each year Mariposa welcomes several thousand students from school and home school classrooms in NH, MA, and VT for field trips and special programs. Now on view is World of Chocolate. In addition to touring the exhibit, participants will explore where chocolate comes from, examine a living cacao tree, enjoy a Mayan legend about the theft of chocolate from paradise and make their own chocolate. The museum also offers programs exploring specific regions of the world through artifacts and other media and cooking.
