North Branch Nature Center

MFFC strives to teach sustainable management of forest and farmland. Students can walk the interpretive Wildlife Trail to track wildlife, or walk the Silviculture Trail to learn about sustainable forestry. At the farm, they can see a variety of horses, chickens, sheep, and pigs. Seasonal outdoor programs include Sap to Syrup, Life Cycles of Livestock, and The Ins and Outs of Eating: Nutrient Cycles on the Farm. Older classes are invited to collaborate with Merck staff and design a farm or forest-based experience that ties into their curriculum. MFFC also provides service learning opportunities.
