Great Falls Historic District Cultural Center

Founded by Alexander Hamilton as the first planned industrial city, Paterson is rich with manufacturing and social history. On a guided tour, see the historic great falls, Ivanhoe Wheelhouse, Paterson Museum, and the S.U.M. Hydroelectric Station, one of the earliest hydroelectric dams in the country. At the Gatehouse (ca. 1846), groups can see the preserved 18th century canal system, where water was directed to the earliest mills in Paterson. Tours of the site can be arranged to suit all age groups and a variety of special interests, and can be organized in conjunction with the Paterson Museum, and Lambert Castle.
