Anacostia Community Museum

Anacostia Community Museum exhibitions focus on a range of topics and issues facing urban communities today. The creative use of museum collections, exhibit design, and innovative interpretive methods acknowledges audience diversity and encourages visitors to think critically about exhibition subject matter. Tours for school groups are designed to address District of Columbia learning standards with an emphasis on research, reporting, and writing. Lectures, films, panel discussions, workshops, gallery tours, symposia, and performances are just some of the programs the education department develops to help make field trips meaningful and fulfilling. Other programs relate to national celebrations such as National Poetry Month, Jazz Appreciation Month, or Kwanzaa.
