Lightship Overfalls (LV118)

Visit the Lightship Overfalls, one of the only remaining lightships. Built in 1938, The Overfalls was the last lightship built with a riveted construction and has a radio beacon, foghorn, and 1,000-watt electric lantern. Go on a guided tour of the deck, officer’s quarters and bunk, crew’s mess, and even get to see the engine room. Guides share the history of the ship, its technical specifications, and the history of the lightship service and lightships in the early 20th century. Afterward, visit the maritime museum, which houses hundreds of items related to the ship and the lives of its crew.
