Fort Delaware State Park

Learn about Fort Delaware and fill your group’s day with hands-on history! Walk among Confederate prisoners and civilians as they reenact daily life as it was 150 years ago. Help the blacksmith work on a cannon, watch prisoners discuss escape plans, talk to the quartermaster, and see a Columbiad gun fire a live charge. View historical artifacts and learn about soldier drilling – even participate in the drills yourself! A ¾ mile prison camp trail takes groups through the historical part of Pea Patch Island that once housed the hospital, outbuildings, and even a bunker from the Spanish-American War.
