Biggs Museum of American Art

The museum holds a collection of fine work that provides a platform for education in American history and the arts. Paintings and furniture, from the 18th-century to folk and the early modern, give a look at the diversity of American styles. Sculptures, tools, and other objects give a look at the history of form and composition. Tours can be worked into lesson plans about art, language, and history, using activities and a study of relevant exhibits. Written exercises, inquiry-based discussion, and interactive demonstrations allow groups to explore art concepts and to articulate how artists used them in their work.
