Hancock Shaker Village

When you bring your class trip on a self-guided tour of this historic Village, they can watch gardeners tending herb and vegetable gardens, hear farmers talk about livestock, and watch a costumed school teacher giving lessons in the schoolhouse. In the Visitors Center, exhibitions delve into the specific aspects of Shaker life and their role in the U.S. A Discovery Room offers numerous hands-on activities, including trying on Shaker-style clothing, weaving, and milking a life-sized replica of a Holstein cow. The Village also offers 1.5-hour guided tours focusing on daily life in a 19th century Shaker community, which can be tailored to your students' age.
