ABOUT

Adirondack Experience

Adirondack Experience (ADKX), formerly the Adirondack Museum, celebrated its 60th season with the opening of a new cutting-edge gallery installation exploring the spirit, history, culture, and people of the Adirondack region. Life in the Adirondacks is the largest permanent exhibition on the museum’s stunning 121-acre campus. The immersive installation combines authentic objects from ADKX’s collections—including guide boats, a vintage railway car, and a naturalist’s cabin—and interpretative materials with leading-edge digital technologies and hands-on activities. With 65,000 square feet of exhibitions in over 23 buildings and galleries, Adirondack Experience tells the stories of the men and women who lived and played in the Adirondacks. Permanent exhibitions focus on living in the Adirondacks, transportation, the timber industry, and more. Groups can tour the campus on their own, or register for an educator-led program. Ample picnic areas are available or stop by the Lake View Café for lunch.
