Absecon Lighthouse

Take a tour of one of the oldest lighthouses in the country! Built in 1857, Absecon Lighthouse is the country's third tallest lighthouse at 171 ft., and is open for climbing. Students, scouts, and campers will journey through time as they climb all 228 steps of the tower, and see the original first-order Fresnel lens. Spend the night at Absecon and experience life as a lighthouse keeper! This overnight program allows groups to learn about the history of lighthouses, make a night climb and hear ghost stories, build their own lighthouse, see a replica lighthouse keeper's dwelling, and practice their compass and orienteering skills.
