Cloisters

A castle-like museum with surrounding gardens devoted to the art and architecture of medieval Europe. Programs such as Stories and Legends in Medieval Art and Walls explore and examine images and legends of saints, mythical beasts, biblical heroes, as well as architecture, monumental paintings, sculpture, and stained glass. Groups will build arches with blocks to demonstrate basic structural principles of medieval architecture, examine the similarities and differences between secular and religious art, and explore the world of ornate medieval castles and tournaments.
