American Labor Museum/Botto House National Landmark

Discover the history of the labor movement! Visit the Botto family house, where 15,000 workers gathered together in the Paterson Silk Strike of 1913. See an old kitchen, parlor, a root cellar, and garden beds. The museum has photographs of workplace conditions, wage scales, and strikers’ meetings at the beginning of the previous century. Learn about industrialization, and the social differences between workers and mill owners; a lunchtime stop at the Great Falls Park gives groups a way of contextualizing Paterson’s industrial history. Scouts can go on a focused tour, and the museum sees Eagle Scout projects throughout the year.
