Augusta Canal National Heritage Area

Learn about the important role that the Augusta Canal played in the Civil War. Groups can take a boat tour that teaches how the Augusta Canal helped in transporting supplies to the troops, the Confederate Powderworks gunpowder factory, and more. During the excursion, groups will see the gunpowder factory, Rigdon-Ansley pistol factory, Confederate bakery, shoe factory, and other important places that are relevant to Civil War history. Tickets for the boat tour include admission to the Canal Discovery Center where groups can learn more about how the canal works, its role in the Industrial Revolution, and more.
