Friends of the Chicago River

Learn about and help restore the Chicago River with your group. Contact the Forest Preserves of Cook County Volunteer Resource Center to schedule a restoration service learning activity such as invasive species removal, trash pick up, native plantings, and native seed collection. Groups can also sign up to become Centennial Volunteers, which involves monitoring wildlife, spreading native seeds, and more at nine sites (LaBagh Woods, Blue Star Memorial Woods, Forest Glen, Clayton Smith Woods, Kickapoo Meadows, River Oaks Woods, Beaubien Woods, Somme Woods, and Whistler Woods) along the Chicago River.
