Boone Hall Plantation & Gardens

This colonial plantation, founded in 1681, offers hands-on field trips and guided tours to the public. School groups can make connections between nature, botany, and what it was like to run a South Carolina plantation. Learn about important crops while trying plantation activities like rice throwing and indigo dying, or go on a wagon ride to the salt marsh and use nets to study pond life. Other programs allow groups to explore the relationship between butterflies and strawberries, or go pumpkin or strawberry picking, while learning about history and what these crops need to grow.
