Barrier Island Sanctuary Management and Education Center

Located in South Melbourne Beach’s Archie Carr National Wildlife Refuge, Barrier Island Sanctuary Management and Education Center is a 34-acre sanctuary providing groups with diverse habitats to discover. Groups will learn all about the beach's animal life through interactive exhibits, educational programs, and nature films. Exhibits aim to teach groups about Barrier Island’s underwater life using interactive displays and more. Programs focus on sea turtle stewardship, habitats, life cycles, and much more. Activities include taking an interpretive walk along the beach, examining turtle skulls, analyzing water and soil, and helping to clean up the beach. Groups can also enjoy lunch in the ocean view picnic area.
