Trout Lake Nature Center

Located near Ocala National Forest, Trout Lake Nature Center is Central Florida’s 230-acre wildlife preserve. Groups will experience nature through educational programs that aim to teach the concepts of ecosystems, interdependence, animal adaptations, and more. Activities at the nature center allow groups to collect and record macro invertebrates from Trout Lake using dip nets, build micro-habitats, examine bear skull artifacts, and use test strips to determine the lake’s water quality. Field trip visits are capped at 60 per group or the equivalent of 3 classes. Lake County District schools must contact Jessica Smith (352-742-6901) to reserve.
