Long Island Maritime Museum

The Long Island Maritime Museum is comprised of fourteen acres and nine historic buildings. Exhibits show how weather, chance, and human error conspired to make the waters around Long Island a “valley of ship wrecks”. The museum houses a permanent exhibit containing maps, archival photographs, newspapers, and personal accounts based on the Annuals of the United States Life Saving Service. It also has a Small Craft Building, consisting of 30 sail & power boats in a former WWI US Navy seaplane hanger.
