BIG Reuse

The only non-profit retail shop for recovered and left over building materials, BIG Reuse helps to protect the environment by eliminating the amount of waste that ends up in landfills. With warehouses in both Queens and Brooklyn, groups can volunteer for a variety of events throughout the year. Groups of all ages can help out on BIG! Compost Tree Care Workdays where they will pull weeds, cultivate the soil, and amend the tree beds in Long Island City with mulch and compost. College groups will find the food scrap drop off and waste sorting volunteer programs especially rewarding as they help organize compost at different sites around New York City. Check the volunteer events page for age requirements.
