Cumberland County Historical Society (CCHS)

Designated the historical society of Cumberland County in 1987, Cumberland Historical Society allows groups to discover the county’s history through exhibits, artifacts, walking tours, and more. Visit the library or tour the museum, which features items such as pottery, quilts, and paintings that show the county’s developments in history. Groups can embark on a historical adventure on the Underground Railroad Bus and Walking Tour, which focuses on the Underground Railroad’s key figures as well as those who sought freedom for all enslaved peoples. Sites on the tour include the Ironmaster’s Mansion, Island Grove, and the Daniel Kaufman House. Other walking tours focus on the Civil War, the Carlisle Indian Industrial School, and more.
