Grand Army of the Republic Memorial Museum

Deepen your group’s knowledge of Civil War history with a visit to the Grand Army of The Republic Memorial Museum, which is the official auxiliary to the Grand Army of the Republic. Built and maintained by the National Woman's Relief Corps Inc., the museum has a wide range of Civil War artifacts, including weapons, papers, diaries, journals of the Grand Army of the Republic from the 1870s, and more. The museum also features original tintype photographs taken by Civil War photographer Matthew Brady and the flag John Wilkes Booth’s spur was caught on at Ford’s Theater as he tried to escape after the assassination of President Lincoln.
