Hampton University Museum

Hampton University Museum is the oldest African American museum in the United States. With over 9,000 art objects representing various cultures around the world, the museum offers groups a varied cultural fine art experience. Groups will see African American, American Indian, Pacific, and African Art by artists such as John Biggers, Elizabeth Catlett, and more. Educational programs at allow groups to explore the form, meaning, historical context, and cultural context of the art and artifacts in the museum’s collections. Younger learners can visit the Curiosity Room on Thursdays where they will learn to appreciate the different aspects of art.
