Virginia Museum of Fine Arts

Featuring art from almost every major culture, the VMFA houses a vast range of genres including ancient art, Asian and African art, and extensive holdings in modern European and American art: especially Art Deco, impressionism, and post-impressionism. Visitors can also see Fabergé jeweled objects, and a collection of English silver objects from the 18th/19th centuries. Tours can explore a variety of topics, including the ancient cultures of Greece, Rome, Egypt, and Mali. Visits for preschool-aged groups can include hands-on play and art activities. Sketching is encouraged while visiting the collections, so bring your own 18”x24” sketchpad!
