South Carolina State Museum

See four floors of exhibits and a 70,000-piece collection of artifacts, fossils, and artwork. Learn about the natural and man-made history of South Carolina with taxidermy animals, dioramas, tools, vintage electronics, and even airplanes. In addition to guided tours, school groups can have a hands-on program: practice animal classification, conduct tests on soil, solve physics problems, handle real fossils, build electrical circuits, learn the properties of light, and much more. Groups can also schedule a planetarium show, observatory lesson, or have an in-school visit. General/program admission free for SC students. Scout overnight programs available.
