North Carolina Museum of History

Walk through 14,000 years of North Carolina history. Through artifacts, photos, restored buildings, and dioramas, groups can learn about the history of the state from prehistoric times to colonization, the Civil War, industrialization, two World Wars, and the Civil Rights movement. See items from the Civil War, Native American artifacts, a restored slave cabin, and an 18th-century carpenter’s home. Groups can immerse themselves in the past with interactive exhibits, like a replica textile mill with working machinery. Other past exhibits have focused on topics like photography, painting, furniture, agriculture, sports history, and North Carolina state governors.
