Charlotte Museum of History

This museum seeks to interpret the history of the Charlotte/Mecklenburg region. Groups can learn about the historic neighborhoods, culture, artifacts, and geography of the region and tour the historic Hezekiah Alexandria homestead built in 1774. School tours will teach students about the three (African American, European, and Catawba Indian) cultures of the Carolina Backcountry, as they look at Colonial tools, furniture, garments, and structures. Classes can also learn about colonial trade, government, the American Revolution, and geography with the help of hands-on activities and games: practice bartering, see historical herbs and medicines, a textile demonstration, and much more.
