Old Salem Museum & Gardens

The Town of Salem was an 18th-century Moravian settlement with a rich history. Original structures, gardens, and artifacts can be explored during a self-guided or guided tour. See sites like the barn, tavern, market square, schoolhouse, and shoemaker’s. Groups will have an unforgettable time as they interact with costumed interpreters and learn about the trades and everyday life of people living in the 1700s. During the hands-on history tour, they can see demonstrations of hearth cooking, crafts with wool, flax, and clay. The Science Alive program explores colonial inventions, technology, pottery, and architecture.
