Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University

The museum at Duke University has a growing collection of contemporary artwork, and a permanent collection of over 5,000 years of Western art. This includes ancient Egyptian, Greek, and Roman art; medieval art and architecture; European Renaissance and early modern painting; and a collection of American paintings, portrait and landscape photography, and prints. During their guided tour of the museum, students will learn how artists use techniques such as mood, setting, and symbolism to convey stories in their artwork. Classroom visits and self-guided tours are also available.
