First National Bank Museum

Visit the First National Bank Museum, one of the oldest historic sites in Lancaster County. Chartered in 1864, the bank is still preserved in its original setting, giving visitors a look at the President’s desk, a walk-in vault, the original check canceller consisting of a tree stump and a specially designed hammer. Visitors will even get to see the bullet hole from a failed robbery attempt and hear the stories of escaped slaves Stephen Smith and William Whipper, two African-American millionaires and conductors on the Underground Railroad, who lived in Columbia before the Civil War.
