University of Connecticut Department of Animal Science

The UConn Animal Barns are open to  groups for self-guided tours everyday from 10AM until 4PM. Groups can see the dairy cows being milked everyday at 1PM and fed at 9:30AM and 4PM. There are some baby animals to see all year, such as foals in the spring, lambs in February, beef calves in mid-March, and dairy calves all year round. There are 85 horses and more than 200 cows for learners to visit. Groups may like to use the “Follow the Animal Trail” brochure to turn their trip into an adventure. Events are scheduled throughout the year, including dairy shows and polo matches.
