Van Cortlandt House Museum

Van Cortlandt House was built in 1748 and is furnished to reflect its varied history as the home and plantation of the Van Cortlandt family. Your group can learn about colonial life in New Amsterdam, play children’s games, go on a guided tour of the house, and handle reproductions of artifacts. Interpret the diverse objects the house, including carved grotesque masks, traditional Dutch furniture, and a special grandfather clock. The Recruiting Serjeant program allows your learners to experience the Revolutionary War from the perspective of a recruit as they practice drills, marching, and how to load and fire a musket.
