NYC Compost Project

The NYC Compost Project aims to teach New York school groups the knowledge, skills, and opportunities they need to produce and use compost locally. Through these service learning programs, students can help take care of a community compost site. Tasks include chopping, mixing, sifting, and other maintenance activities. Throughout the process, your group will learn all about managing and setting up an outdoor compost system. Sites for the NYC Compost Project are throughout all five boroughs of New York City, and should be contacted regarding service learning opportunities. In-class workshops and compost demonstration tours are also available.
