Educational Farm at Joppa Hill, Inc.

The Educational Farm at Joppa Hill offers interactive, hands-on educational farm tours featuring the farm animals for all ages. Each tour is approximately one hour in length. Content depends on the age and interest level of those attending. Children learn how the dirt beneath their feet turns into yummy things like corn on the cob and even ice cream. Discussions include what soil is and why it is important. Students can visit the vegetable garden to touch and taste and smell different plants, and learn about gardening with nature. Students are encouraged to touch the farm animals and ask questions. Depending on the time of year, groups may get a chance to walk a goat, hold a hen, maybe even brush a pony or a donkey. Students will make the connection between healthy soil, healthy plants, healthy animals, and healthy people. Custom tours are available for different age groups, and may feature environmental science, animal adaptations, and tours based on specific animals. Each tour is approximately one hour in length.
