Ashokan Center

Located on 385-acres of Catskill forests, streams and farmland, The Ashokan Center is a special blend of geologic, natural and human history. Since 1967, Ashokan has offered unique hands-on and place-based educational programs that foster inquiry, curiosity, and a love of life-long learning. We lead and host year round residential and day programs for K-12 school students and teachers, colleges, universities, and retreat groups in our beautiful new sustainably designed facilities. Class Series include Natural Sciences (Animal Tracks and Traces, Watershed Study, Forest Ecology), Living History (1817 Schoolhouse, 1830 Homestead, Writer’s Cabin), Colonial Crafts (Blacksmithing, Tinsmithing, Broommaking), Adventure Education (Intermediate Ropes, Orienteering, Survival), and much more!
