Originally formed to preserve one important piece of rolling stock, the Illinois Railway Museum has evolved into an educational and historic preservation organization recreating possibly the largest operating demonstration railroad showcase in North America. Groups will see the “Museum in Motion” as artifacts like streetcars, steam trains, and streamliners pass by on the museum’s operating demonstration railroad. On a tour via streetcar, groups can view the museum grounds, which include the trolley coach garage, material yard, and more. Call for field trip arrangements.
