Ansonia Nature and Recreation Center

The Ansonia Nature and Recreation Center is a 150 acres wildlife sanctuary composed of wooded hills and grassy fields with streams, a pond, wet meadows and an upland swamp, and provides sanctuary to many species of local flora and fauna. A trip to the nature center can be planned for any time of the year, and students and scouts can enjoy exciting, educational, and hands-on seasonal activities. Children can meet an owl and dissect an owl pellet in the winter, learn about what lives in the local pond in the summer, tap a tree for syrup in the spring, and catch and meet resident insects in the fall.
